Starved at the foot of the volcano, misted by the Aegean Sea and growing into a basket-like cylinder to defend itself against the intense Grecian sun and the harsh Cycladic winds, the Santorini Grape has a distinctive aroma and a unique character. Santorini Grape (Assyrtiko) is a white grape indigenous to this breath-taking island, sustainably cultivated in arid volcanic-ash-rich soil. An ancient vine variety that goes back 3,500 years and remains phylloxera free. We source the by-products of the cultivation from the Union of Santorini Cooperatives/Santowine -the marcs. It is the first time that the great volume of vinification by-products, instead of being discarded, is used to produce a cosmetic extract.
