    At 1.075 years old, Adonis with its Greek Mythology-inspired name, is the oldest known tree in Europe; a symbol of divine beauty and nature, this is the oldest out of a group of pines discovered by an international research team on the highest peaks of Pindus Mountains. This is a White Pine tree. Its exact location remains still a well-kept secret.The spine of Greece, as the Pindus Mountains are often referred to, is a national treasure host to some of the rarest plants of the country. Where Black Pine forests end, the White Pine trees start growing. This perennial tree has an amazing surviving power, conquering Pindus highest tops of up to 2,500m height. Under the guidance of the Directorate of Forests of Grevena, KORRES sources by-products of White Pine timber production, that would else be discarded.
